Amrita is developing her debut feature film, a postcolonial ghost story set in the small town of Nagercoil, India, supported by the NYU Production Lab Development Studio Fellowship and The TorinoFilmLab NEXT. Amrita has her MFA in Writing/Directing from NYU, where she taught Location Sound I. She was a Still I Rise Films fellow and has written an episode for an upcoming series produced by Disney+ and Baboon Animation.

As an educator interested in the intersection of social justice and storytelling, Amrita works with immigrant students, newcomers, and alternative-to-incarceration youth programs and public schools based in New York. As an Assistant Professor, she teaches an introductory film production course at Pace University as part of the Film and Screen Studies Department.
